General Waste Skips
What you put in a general waste skip:
  • General household waste
  • Clothes, broken toys, rubbish bags, bed frames and Mattresses
  • Small appliances TV’s, Radio’s, computers, and phone
  • Small household & Office furniture
  • Light construction and demolition waste, carpet, gib and plastic
  • Small amounts of Steel, metal, and wire
  • Small amounts Garden waste
  • Small Kitchenware, microwaves, degassed fridges, freezers and washing machines
What you put in a general waste skip:
  • Asbestos and other toxic materials
  • Gas bottles
  • Tyres
  • Car or lithium batteries
  • Paints - spray cans
  • Fridges or freezers unless degassed
  • Chemicals and hazardous items
  • Polystyrene (modest amounts allowed but this can be recycled if clean)
  • Large quantities of wire
  • Large quantities of green waste, clean fill, hardfill and soil (Specific bins are required for these, as it all goes to a separate place)
Green Waste Skips
What you put in a green waste skip:
  • Lawn clippings
  • Hedge trimmings
  • Weeds
  • Leaves and flowers
  • Old plants
  • Small tree stumps and branches
What you put in a green waste skip:
  • Clean fill
  • General waste
  • Cabbage tree leaves
  • Bamboo
  • Chemicals and hazardous items
  • Wire, steel, and other metals
Hardfill / Clean Fill Skips
What you put in a hardfill/ clean fill skip:
  • Concrete without exposed rebar
  • Ceramic tiles, Bricks
  • Rocks
  • Soil, dirt
What you put in a hardfill/ clean fill skip:
  • Green waste
  • General waste
  • Exposed Rebar and wire
  • Chemicals and hazardous items

Using Blue Bins Marlborough skips correctly and safely

  • Allow enough room for easy safe access to deliver and pick up skip. (Skip comes directly off the back of the truck, Drivers must be able to open door of truck),
  • Make sure that skips have enough clear space around them to allow easy safe access. (Driver needs to be able to walk around the skip and safely detach and attach lifting chains and put cover).
  • Leave bins where they are placed by the Blue Bins Marlborough driver.
  • Fill the skips only to the top, nothing sticking up, so that it can be covered for safe road travel.
  • Call us if you need early collection or an extra bin.
  • Erect scaffolding over, or too close to the bin.
  • Overfill the bin past the top.
  • Place overflow waste around the bin.
  • Move, Drag or Push bins from one location to the next.
  • Placed bin under any powerlines, telecom, or low hanging trees.
  • Place the bin underneath a fixed object like a canopy’s, carports, or air conditioning unit.
  • Let any children play in or around skip when in hire nor when delivery and pick up is happening.
